Schilling Receives Second ABA Young Lawyers Division Appointment; Named Environment, Energy & Resources Committee Vice-Chair

Fishman Haygood partner Blair Schilling has been appointed to serve a one-year term as vice-chair of the American Bar Association Young Lawyers Division’s Environment, Energy & Resources Law committee. The Young Lawyers Division (YLD) oversees thirty-three different committees addressing topics like criminal justice, diversity, and disability rights, as well as focusing on practice areas, including health law and international law, among others.

The YLD works to develop “relevant and timely programming, meaningful policy advancement, necessary public service, and critical membership service.” Interested young attorneys must apply for and be appointed to leadership positions for the upcoming bar year. Attorneys chosen for positions within the YLD are passionate about enriching the legal profession.

This marks Schilling’s second ABA Young Lawyers Division appointment for the upcoming 2023-2024 bar year. She recently was appointed to a one-year term on the Disaster Legal Services (DLS) Team, which is a partnership between the YLD and the Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA). The DLS initiative aims to provide survivors with the pro bono legal services necessary to “navigate the aftermath of presidentially-declared disasters.” Read about her earlier appointment here.
