Fishman Haygood often represents governmental and municipal entities in complex commercial litigation against their financial counterparties.

Our team has represented public institutional clients against banks, underwriters, or other financial intermediaries. Our experience in these matters includes litigation and arbitrations.

The firm has represented, among others, the State of Louisiana, the State of New Jersey, the City of New Orleans, the City of Houston, Louisiana Municipal Employees Pension Fund, Louisiana Firefighters Pension Fund, the Dallas Airport Authority, the Louisiana Stadium and Exposition District, the Carilion Clinic, the William Beaumont Hospital, the Baylor College of Medicine, Cabell Huntington Hospital, and the Christus Health System.

Representative Experience

  • Represented various states, cities, hospitals, and airports in cases involving auction rate securities, recovering hundreds of millions of dollars.
  • Represented two public pension funds in a case that recovered $50 million plus against a broker-dealer arising out of a failed CDO.
  • Represented the state of Louisiana in a work-out of a failed financing of a multibillion-dollar infrastructure program.
