Edwards, Schilling, Meaders, and Vogel to Participate in Tulane Law’s 30th Annual Environmental Law & Policy Summit

Fishman Haygood attorneys John Bel Edwards, Blair Schilling, Julie Meaders, and Zoe Vogel will participate in the 30th Annual Tulane Environmental Law and Policy Summit, which takes place March 28-29, 2025. Hosted by the Environmental and Energy Society of Tulane University Law School, this free public event brings together both professionals and anyone interested in current and pressing environmental and legal policy issues. The conference includes speakers and moderators from across the country and covers a wide range of environmental topics, including ESG, health impacts, the clean energy transition, pro bono advocacy, and more. On the first day of the conference, John Bel will serve as a panelist for “Katrina’s Legacy: Impacts and Lessons 20 Years Later.” The panel, which also includes Madeleine Landrieu (dean of Loyola Law School) and Frank Neuner (former LSBA president during Katrina and partner at NeunerPate), will discuss the storm’s long-term policy implications and its lasting effects on the city’s legal infrastructure and courts, as well as provide insight into how the legal community ensured access to justice amid chaos. Together, the panelists will delve into Katrina’s enduring legacy and the lessons learned for future disaster response.

On day two, Blair will moderate “Charting New Waters: Women on the Frontlines of Coastal Law,” with Julie and Zoe participating as panelists alongside Rosa Acheson of Jones Swanson Huddell. This all-women panel, composed of recent law graduates with developing careers in environmental litigation, will share insights on breaking into the field, navigating the legal landscape as women litigators, and addressing the ever-changing complexities of coastal law.

The Environmental Law and Policy Summit is entirely student run and fundraised. Each year, approximately 50 Tulane Law students, with the help of faculty advisors, come together to put on this informative event.
