Schilling & Veith Recognized as 2024 Leadership in Law Honorees
July 2, 2024
Fishman Haygood partners Blair Schilling and Rebekka Veith recently were selected to the 2024 Leadership in Law class by New Orleans CityBusiness. The honor recognizes 50 area professionals in the field of law for both their career and community accomplishments. This marks the second year in a row that Schilling has been honored. Schilling represents clients in a wide range of commercial matters in federal and state court, with a concentration in environmental law. Her environmental practice is centered on representing landowners throughout Louisiana against some of the oil and gas industry’s largest operators for land loss, oilfield contamination, erosion, and groundwater contamination.
In addition, female representation in the legal field and in her community is of utmost importance to Schilling. She recently completed the Loyola University New Orleans Women’s Leadership Academy, a noteworthy recognition given that she is a Loyola Law alumna. The program seeks to increase the representation of women in leadership roles by educating, empowering, and elevating its cohorts, and it is the only one of its kind hosted by a university in Louisiana. Veith’s diverse practice includes appellate work, class actions/mass actions/MDLs, fraudulent transfer and specialized bankruptcy litigation, and insurance coverage cases. She has successfully handled all aspects of litigation, from initiating lawsuits to arguing appeals. Veith has gained significant trial experience as a young lawyer, having tried several cases to both juries and the bench, as well as participating in multiple complex arbitrations.
Further, Veith is committed to educating the next generation of lawyers. Most recently, she presented on “Trial Skills” at the 2024 Justice Camp hosted by the New Orleans Chapter of the Federal Bar Association, for which she serves on the board of the Younger Lawyers Division. Honorees will be celebrated at an in-person event at the New Orleans Museum of Art later this fall. A special Leadership in Law insert profiling all honorees will run in the October 18 issue of CityBusiness.
Congratulations to these outstanding Fishman Haygood attorneys!
