Miller, Thibodeaux, & Schilling Named to Lawdragon’s 2023 “500 Leaders in Environmental Law” List

Partners Kerry Miller, Paul Thibodeaux, and Blair Schilling recently were selected to the 2023 Lawdragon Green 500: Leaders in Environmental Law. All three were recognized for their work in environmental litigation. Click here to see the announcement.

Lawdragon based its selections on journalistic reporting and nominations, as well as on vetting by peers and experts in the field of environmental law. Honorees not only have been in practice for 10 years, with rare exception, but also have earned the respect of their counterparts. This is only the second time the guide has been published.

Miller’s trial practice is as diverse as it is busy. He has tried cases involving environmental contamination, including civil and criminal provisions of the Clean Air Act, Clean Water Act, and the Oil Pollution Act. Miller has gained unique complex litigation experience as the appointed lead counsel in the BP oil spill multi-district litigation (MDL) and Hurricane Katrina-related environmental litigation.

Thibodeaux has successfully taken a lead role in many high-profile matters such as the Napoleonville sinkhole litigation, BP oil spill MDL, and the Hurricane Katrina-related Murphy oil spill class action litigation. Recently, he successfully represented a landowner in litigation to require a large oil company to plug and abandon wells and decommission an abandoned oil field.

Schilling represents landowners throughout Louisiana against some of the oil and gas industry’s largest operators for contamination of oilfields, land loss, erosion, and groundwater contamination. She was a member of the trial team for the firm’s seminal coastal land loss case, Vintage Assets Inc. v. Tennessee Gas Pipeline Company, L.L.C., et al., which set a course for the restoration of coastal wetlands that surround pipelines.
