Miller, Thibodeaux, & Schilling Among Lawdragon’s “500 Leading Environmental Lawyers” for Third Consecutive Year

Fishman Haygood partners Kerry Miller, Paul Thibodeaux, and Blair Schilling were recently selected to the 2025 Lawdragon 500 Leading Environmental Lawyers – The Green 500. Only five Louisiana attorneys are recognized on the list, and Kerry, Paul, and Blair are all honored for their work in environmental litigation. Click here to see the announcement.

Lawdragon based its selections on journalistic reporting and nominations, as well as vetting by peers and experts in the field of environmental law. Honorees not only have been in practice for 10 years, with rare exception, but also have earned the respect of their counterparts. This is the guide’s fourth edition and marks the third time that these three Fishman Haygood litigators have been recognized. See Lawdragon’s 2024 announcement here.

Kerry’s trial practice is as diverse as it is busy. He has tried cases involving environmental contamination, including civil and criminal provisions of the Clean Air Act, Clean Water Act, and the Oil Pollution Act. Kerry has gained unique complex litigation experience as the appointed lead counsel in the BP oil spill multi-district litigation (MDL) and Hurricane Katrina related environmental litigation.

Paul has thrived in some of the most complex commercial litigations in the country for nearly 20 years. He has successfully taken a lead role in many high-profile matters such as the Napoleonville sinkhole litigation, BP oil spill multi-district litigation, and the Hurricane Katrina-related Murphy oil spill class action litigation. Recently, Paul successfully represented a landowner in litigation to require a large oil company to plug and abandon wells and decommission an abandoned oil field.

Blair’s environmental practice includes matters involving coastal restoration, land contamination, land use, clean water, getting brownfield sites safely back into commerce, regulatory and permitting, and expropriation issues. In doing this work, she represents state government agencies, non-profit organizations, and private companies and individuals, including the Louisiana Department of Wildlife and Fisheries (LDWF), the Environmental Defense Fund, the National Wildlife Federation, Restore the Mississippi River Delta, and many private landowners.
