Fishman Haygood Special Counsel Steve Herman spoke at LSU Law’s Louisiana Law Review Volume 86 Symposium, “Examining the Expert Witness: An In-Depth Analysis of How Experts Influence Jury Perception,” on February 6, 2026.
Steve participated on the panel, “Use of Expert Testimony in Federal Complex Litigation,” alongside distinguished panelists Judge David C. Joseph, Allan Kanner, and Judge Jane Triche Milazzo. The panel examined the evolving role of expert witnesses in complex federal litigation, with a focus on how expert testimony influences jury decision-making. Discussion addressed the strategic use of experts from both plaintiff and defense perspectives, including expert selection, management, costs, and challenges to opposing experts’ qualifications.
Steve focuses his practice on commercial litigation, class actions, and professional liability matters. He brings extensive experience in complex litigation and mass torts and is widely recognized for his role as one of two Lead Counsel for Plaintiffs in the BP Oil Spill/Deepwater Horizon Litigation.
