Steve Herman Appointed to Louisiana State Law Institute’s Torts and Insurance Committee

Fishman Haygood Special Counsel Steve Herman has joined the prestigious Louisiana State Law Institute‘s Torts and Insurance Committee, with his appointment approved at the Institute’s Executive Committee meeting on June 26, 2026.

Established by the Louisiana Legislature in 1938, the LSLI is one of the oldest organizations of its kind in the country. The Institute is dedicated to public service, with a mission to promote and encourage the clarification and simplification of Louisiana law and its better adaptation to present social needs, to secure the better administration of justice, and to carry on scholarly legal research and scientific legal work.

Steve’s appointment to the Torts and Insurance Committee adds to his existing service on LSLI’s Digital Products Subcommittee. He maintains a broad civil practice spanning commercial, class action and professional liability matters, and was appointed in 2010 to serve as one of two Liaison and Lead Class Counsel for all businesses, individuals and local governments involved in the Deepwater Horizon/BP Oil Spill litigation. He also teaches an advanced torts seminar on class actions at Loyola University New Orleans College of Law and an advanced civil procedure course in complex litigation at Tulane University Law School.

Steve’s standing invitation to serve across LSLI committees reflects the depth of experience and legal knowledge he brings to bear, both for Fishman Haygood’s clients and for the broader Louisiana legal community.
