Scott Willis Presents at the American College of Mortgage Attorneys 2025 Annual Meeting

On October 10, 2025, Fishman Haygood partner Scott Willis co-presented “Follow-On Opinions: Update on the Joint Report on Mortgage Modification Opinions” at the American College of Mortgage Attorneys (ACMA) 2025 Annual Conference in San Antonio, Tex. The ACMA Opinions Committee, along with the American College of Real Estate Lawyers (ACREL) and American Bar Association’s Real Property, Trust and Estate Law Section (RPTE) opinions committees, are currently working on a report to provide guidance to real estate finance attorneys in rendering opinions related to modifications to credit and security documents. During the presentation, Scott and Marshall Grodner (McGlinchey Stafford PLLC), who are both part of the joint drafting committee, offered an update on the status of the report and its key provisions.

Scott regularly speaks and writes on commercial transactions and legal opinion issues. He is also a member of ACMA and serves on the Board of Regents. Additionally, he is a fellow of ACREL and will be the organization’s secretary in 2026, having previously served on its Board of Governors. He is the past chair of the ACMA Opinions Committee, the RPTE Law Section Committee on Legal Opinions, and the ACREL Attorney’s Opinions Committee. Read more about Scott here.
