John Bel Edwards to Co-Teach Trial Advocacy Class at Loyola Law with Dean Madeleine Landrieu

On October 10, 2024, Fishman Haygood special counsel John Bel Edwards will join Dean and Judge Adrian G. Duplantier Distinguished Professor of Law Madeleine Landrieu to co-teach a class for Loyola University New Orleans College of Law Trial Advocacy students. This course uses experiential learning exercises, as well as faculty lectures and demonstrations, to help students develop skills in alternative dispute resolution and trial advocacy, oral persuasion, and nonverbal communication. In a simulated trial setting, class participants perform opening statements, closing arguments, witness examinations, and lay evidentiary foundations. This is not the only time this year that Edwards will share his insights with students. In the Spring 2024 semester, Edwards spoke with Sally Richardson, Tulane University Law School’s interim dean at the time, for an informal chat on the topic of “Lawyers as Leaders in Times of Crisis.” He was also  appointed a Visiting Fellow at the Institute of Politics at Harvard Kennedy School.
