John Bel Edwards Delivers LSBA Young Lawyers Conference Keynote, Rebekka Veith Recognized Among Top 40 Awardees

On April 11, 2025, Fishman Haygood attorneys John Bel Edwards and Rebekka Veith took part in the Louisiana State Bar Association Young Lawyers Division’s 2025 Louisiana Young Lawyers Conference, “BARchella: Finding Your Rhythm.” The Coachella-inspired program offered attendees CLE sessions on in-house and outside counsel working together, Louisiana legislative updates, women in law, and the use of technology in the legal profession, among others. The program also provided attendees with the opportunity to network with other young lawyers from around the state. Read more about the conference here.
In keeping with the theme, John Bel served as the event’s “headliner.” His keynote address encouraged young attorneys to take pride in their work, reminded them that they are often meeting clients on their worst days, and noted the importance of attending to their mental health. He also advocated for the next generation of young talent to become involved in their communities at any level—whether it be as a member of their local Rotary Clubs or as an elected official, everyone can make an impact.
During the conference’s “encore,” Rebekka was honored as a 2024 LSBA Young Lawyers Division Top 40 Lawyer. Each year, the YLD recognizes a select group of Louisiana young lawyers who have made exceptional contributions to the legal profession. Beyond her extensive trial experience as a young lawyer, Rebekka is committed to educating the next generation of lawyers. Most recently, she presented on “Trial Skills” at the 2023 and 2024 Justice Camp events hosted by the New Orleans Chapter of the Federal Bar Association, for which she serves on the board of the Younger Lawyers Division.
