Jim Swanson & Kerry Miller Once Again Among Lawdragon’s “500 Leading Lawyers in America,” Only New Orleans Attorneys Recognized for 2025

Fishman Haygood partners Jim Swanson and Kerry Miller were recently selected to Lawdragon‘s 2025 “500 Leading Lawyers in America” list. According to Lawdragon, those represented in the 20^th edition of its flagship guide embody the ideal that being a great lawyer is “…an act of courage to never give up on behalf of a client, a firm, and this notion of justice that can seem as divergent as unifying.” Attorneys are selected based on journalistic research, submissions, and vetting. Recognized for Complex Litigation, including Environmental and Financial, Jim recently served as counsel to investors defrauded in R. Allen Stanford’s $7 billion Ponzi scheme in their lawsuit against the five banks that the investors allege aided and abetted or knowingly participated in the scheme. Settlements totaling $1.6 billion were reached with five bank defendants on the eve of trial in early 2023. Jim is currently working on a series of cases involving coastal land loss and other forms of environmental damage for governmental entities and private landowners. Read more about his practice here.

Kerry is recognized for Complex Litigation, including Environmental and Class Actions. He leads the Fishman Haygood team in a putative class action arising out of five significant emission events at the Limetree Bay Refinery in St. Croix, U.S. Virgin Islands. These emissions were so significant that they led the EPA to shut down the refinery. The only source of clean water on St. Croix before the emissions was cisterns that collect rainwater that is then used for personal consumption. As a result of the emissions, these cisterns have been contaminated, leaving the people of St. Croix without a clean water source. Click here to read more about Kerry.
