Jim Swanson is Faculty for Securities Litigation 2019 presented by the Practising Law Institute

Jim Swanson, Managing Partner of Fishman Haygood and faculty member of the Practising Law Institute (PLI), will join a panel of esteemed lawyers in New York to discuss Securities Litigation: Trial of the Civil Action.  The panel is part of Securities Litigation 2019, a daylong program that PLI will present on April 1 at its New York office and will also make available through live webcast.  The program covers all the issues that can arise in the most complex securities matters, including SEC investigations and all stages of securities litigation and arbitration.  Learn more and register here.

Jim has tried high-stakes securities fraud cases for state and local governments, corporations, and individuals.  Following a two-week FINRA arbitration, Jim and his team secured a settlement from Citigroup Global Markets to compensate his client, Baylor College of Medicine, for losses arising from Baylor’s issuance of auction rate securities to fund construction of its McNair campus.  Jim’s team also recovered $21 million for the Louisiana Firemen’s Retirement System and other pensions in partial settlement of a case involving mortgage-backed securities and distressed debt collateral.

Jim is one of only two lawyers who are ranked Band 1 by Chambers and Partners in Securities Litigation in Louisiana.
