Fishman Haygood Special Counsel Steve Herman Speaks on AI and Ethics for Lawyers

Fishman Haygood Special Counsel Steve Herman recently spoke on artificial intelligence and legal ethics as part of the Judge Martin L.C. Feldman Federal Practice Series hosted by the Federal Bar Association – New Orleans Chapter.

The CLE program, “AI and Ethics for Lawyers,” took place May 13, 2026, at the U.S. District Court for the Eastern District of Louisiana and brought together members of the federal judiciary and legal community to discuss the rapidly evolving role of artificial intelligence in legal practice and litigation.

Steve’s panel, “AI in the Courts: Sanctions/Deep Fakes/Evidence/Privilege,” included Chief Judge Wendy Vitter, Clerk of Court Lyle Cayce, and moderator Kristen Amond. The esteemed panelists explored how courts are responding to the growing challenges posed by AI, including sanctions arising from fabricated or “hallucinated” citations, evidentiary concerns surrounding deepfakes and AI-generated materials, and evolving judicial expectations regarding candor, authenticity, and privilege protection in modern litigation.

Steve is a frequent speaker on the intersection of artificial intelligence and litigation. His participation in the program reflects the respect he has earned among his peers and the judiciary, as well as his continued engagement with one of the legal profession’s most rapidly evolving and closely watched issues.
