Fishman Haygood Attorneys Serve as Judges for Loyola Law BLSA Moot Court Practice

Fishman Haygood Partners Ben Reichard, head of the firm’s International Arbitration team, and Tad Bartlett, head of the Appellate Section, served as judges for a practice session of the Loyola University New Orleans College of Law’s Black Law Students Association (BLSA) Moot Court Team. The students practiced using the brief City of Blackwater v. United States.

The Loyola Law BLSA Moot Court Team is preparing to compete in the Southwest Regional Competition of the National Black Law Students Association Thurgood Marshall Moot Court Competition, which will be held during the Southwest Black Law Students Association (SWBLSA) Convention from January 14–16 in New Orleans. The regional competition includes law schools from Louisiana, Texas, Arkansas, Oklahoma, and New Mexico.

Fishman Haygood’s participation reflects the firm’s three-year commitment to supporting the Loyola Law BLSA Moot Court Team in 2024, 2025, and 2026. Through judging, mentoring, and engagement with the team, the firm seeks to encourage, train, and inspire a diverse group of law students to pursue careers in trial and appellate advocacy.
