Alicia Bendana Accepts Invitation to Join Tulane Law School American Inn of Court

Fishman Haygood Special Counsel Alicia Bendana has joined the Tulane Law School American Inn of Court. Alicia, who serves as an adjunct associate professor of Trial Advocacy at Tulane Law, will serve a key role by helping connect Tulane’s trial advocacy community with judges and practicing attorneys.

Rooted in the centuries-old English Inns of Court, the American Inns of Court movement began in the United States in the early 1980s and was founded on the idea that lawyers and judges can improve the profession through mentoring, collegiality, and the sharing of practical experience. Today, American Inns of Court bring together judges, experienced and newer attorneys, and law students to promote professionalism, ethics, civility, mentoring, and excellence in the practice of law.

Tulane’s chapter is among the oldest in the nation. Members must be nominated and invited by the Executive Board for admission; past members of the Inn include noteworthy legal leaders such as Fifth Circuit Judge John Minor Wisdom and Bankruptcy Judge Jerry A. Brown. While many members are Tulane Law School graduates, it is not a membership requirement.

A particular strength of the Inn model is its emphasis on learning from practitioners and judges who can share the practical knowledge and experience that complements what students learn in the classroom. Each year, second- and third-year law students are invited to join and attend events that encourage networking and offer opportunities for discussions on the latest legal developments.

A Tulane Law graduate, Alicia focuses her national practice on complex bankruptcy and commercial litigation. She represents trustees, debtors, creditors, creditors’ committees, receivers, and liquidators in high-stakes matters involving officer and director liability, professional negligence, fraud, RICO, fraudulent transfers, and business dissolutions. Her experience and insight have made her a trusted lead and co-lead counsel in some of the most challenging bankruptcy-related cases across multiple jurisdictions, including Texas and Delaware.

Alicia’s nomination and admission to the Tulane Inn of Court is a testament to her commitment to sharing her courtroom knowledge with the next generation of litigators—both in the classroom and now, as part of her Tulane Inn membership.
