Michael Stewart is an attorney in our Business Section.

Michael’s practice focuses in the area of corporate law and real estate, including acquisitions and sales, private equity investments, corporate financing, and other general business matters. He assists clients with structuring, negotiating, and closing commercial transactions.

Michael received his J.D. degree, magna cum laude, from Loyola University College of Law and was a member of the Loyola Law Review. Prior to law school, Michael received his bachelor’s degree in Kinesiology from Louisiana State University.

  • Numerous leases of retail, industrial and office sites on behalf of both local and national landlords and tenants, including ground leases, build-to-suit leases, reverse build-to-suit leases, subleases and master leases.
  • Stirling Properties, a full-service commercial real estate company servicing the Gulf South region, in its acquisition of Beck Partners.
  • Black Bay Energy Capital, an energy private equity firm investing in the North American oilfield service sector, in acquisitions and investments, including its investments in:
    • Merichem Company’s technology business unit, which includes Merichem Process Technologies and Merichem Catalyst Products. Merichem is a global leader in full-service sulfur removal, caustic treating, and spent caustic treatment technologies.
  • Carr’s Hill Partners Management, LP, a private equity firm, in its investment in SMART Safety Gulf Coast.
  • Rouses Supermarkets in the leasing, acquisition, construction, and development of numerous stores and general corporate matters, including:
    • Negotiated numerous leases, ground leases, build-to-suit leases, reverse build-to-suit leases on behalf of Rouses.
  • Verdad Real Estate, a national real estate developer in the acquisition, financing, construction, development, leasing and disposition of numerous single-tenant, self-storage and mixed-use developments and general corporate matters, including:
    • Acquisition, financing, bridge loan financing, construction, and development ten self-storage facilities.
