Rebekka Veith Once Again Serves as Trial Advocacy Lecturer at Tulane University Law School, Her Alma Mater
February 25, 2025
During the Spring 2025 semester, Fishman Haygood partner Rebekka Veith once again served as a Trial Advocacy: General Litigation lecturer at Tulane University Law School, her alma mater. The weekly practical skills course has students “learn by doing,” a method through which they role-play simulated trial problems. Subjects include opening statements, direct and cross examination, witness impeachment and rehabilitation, and more. This term, Rebekka led two classes on impeachment and expert witnesses. Read more about the simulations and boot camps offered by Tulane Law.
Trial Advocacy faculty members are made up of experienced trial lawyers and judges who give demonstration performances. Professionals rotate through each section, which helps expose students to a variety of views and ideas. Upon the course’s conclusion, students participate in a mock jury trial.
Rebekka is in a unique position to help educate and guide the next generation of lawyers. As a young attorney, Rebekka has already completed five jury trials; most recently, she tried a case on behalf of a charter school and the Orleans Parish School Board related to defective construction work at a school building that resulted in the displacement of school children. The month-long trial was held in Orleans Parish Civil District Court and concluded in early February 2025 with a verdict that will total $10 million with interests and costs for the firm’s clients.
Rebekka is also committed to sharing her knowledge with future legal leaders. In addition to regularly volunteering to lead Trial Advocacy classes, she has also presented at the New Orleans Chapter of the Federal Bar Association’s annual Justice Camp events.
