Can an out-of-state defendant be compelled to testify at trial?

The Louisiana Court of Appeal for the Fourth Circuit says “yes.”  This differs from the rule in federal court.  Fishman Haygood attorney, Blair Schilling, published an article in Louisiana Advocates that suggests trial lawyers should consider the differing subpoena powers of the state and federal courts when developing a trial strategy for  cases involving out-of-state defendants.  Read the full article here.
