Tax Credit Financing
We represent clients in complex financing transactions involving a variety of state and federal tax incentive programs, including federal and state New Markets Tax Credits, federal and state Historic Rehabilitation Tax Credits, Louisiana Motion Picture Tax Credits, Louisiana Digital Media/Video Game Tax Credits, Louisiana Angel Investor Tax Credits, Louisiana Low Income Housing Tax Credits and GO Zone Bonds. Our clients include lenders, tax credit investors, tax credit brokers, tax credit allocatees and borrowers. We also routinely advise clients on compliance with federal and state tax credit and other tax incentive programs. Special counsel to the firm, William French, has been actively involved in federal and state tax incentive legislation, rules and regulations, and helped to author the very first digital media/video game tax credit program in the United States.

- Whitney National Bank (acquisition and development of a film studio utilizing new markets tax credits, historic rehabilitation tax credits and motion picture tax credits)
- American Community Renewable Energy Fund, LLC; Liberty Bank and Trust Company (development of 502 space parking garage utilizing new markets tax credits)
- Whitney National Bank (acquisition and re-development of 90,000 sq. ft. commercial building for use by non-profit organization utilizing new markets tax credits)
- Liberty Bank and Trust Company (construction of multiple education facilities and a medical facility utilizing new markets tax credits; renovation of a large retailer utilizing new markets tax credits; relocation of a shipping business utilizing new markets tax credits; renovation of a hotel utilizing new markets tax credits)
- State of Louisiana (advice regarding financing of a theatre building in New Orleans, a community center in New Orleans and a new hospital in St. Bernard Parish, all utilizing various tax credits)
- Whitney National Bank (acquisition and redevelopment of 186-room hotel and mixed-use residential and commercial building utilizing new markets tax credits, historic rehabilitation tax credits and GO Zone Bonds)
