Mayor appoints Sharonda Williams to New Orleans Regional Transit Authority

New Orleans Mayor Mitch Landrieu, with the unanimous approval of the New Orleans City Council, has appointed Sharonda Williams to serve on the board of the New Orleans Regional Transit Authority.  The eight-person board oversees the city’s privately-run transit system, which includes five streetcar lines, 35  bus routes, and special paratransit services for the disabled.  Williams was also elected the board’s chair.

Williams joined Fishman Haygood as Special Counsel in January 2016 after serving two years as New Orleans City Attorney.  She is active in both legal and community organizations.  She has served as President of the Board for Bridge House and the Loyola Law School Alumni Association, and she currently is a Vice President of the New Orleans Bar Association.  She also recently joined the Greater New Orleans Fair Housing Action Center and the Louisiana Endowment for the Humanities.

Williams was named a “40 under 40” honoree by Gambit Weekly in 2010 and a “Women of the Year” honoree by City Business in 2011.
