Mr. Serio joined us in 2005 as an associate in our Corporate Section. His primary practice areas are corporate transactions, mergers and acquisitions, commercial finance, and commercial real estate. 

Steven has counseled clients on a variety of negotiated business acquisitions, including Rouses Supermarkets' acquisition of 20 A&P and Sav-A-Center grocery stores located in Louisiana and Mississippi, Geoservices S.A.'s acquisition of 100% of the stock in an oil and gas wireline company in Louisiana, and the acquisitions and sales of several other closely-held companies.

Steven has also represented clients in such deals as the acquisition and financing (both conventional and public infrastructure bonds) of a commercial retail development in excess of $30 million;  the financing of a $28 million preferred share vessel transaction; a $40 million secured oil and gas facility; and the negotiation of numerous commercial office leases on behalf of a large national REIT.

Steven graduated cum laude from the University of Notre Dame with a degree in accounting and is a licensed Certified Public Accountant (inactive).  He received his J.D., cum laude, from American University's Washington College of Law in 2005, where he was the editor-in-chief of the American University Law Review.  He is the author of "A Process Right Due? Examining Whether a Capital Defendant Has a Due Process Right to a Jury Selection Expert," 53 Am. U. L. Rev. 1143 (2004) and is a co-author of Article 9 Remedies in West's Louisiana Statutes Annotated Code of Civil Procedure. 

Steven teaches corporate law and real estate skills courses at Loyola University's College of Law.  He is currently serving as the Secretary and as a Director of Choice Foundation, which is the governing board for Lafayette Academy Charter School in New Orleans.  He is also a member of the Fore!Kids Foundation and the Vice President of the Notre Dame Alumni Club of New Orleans.
