Henry “Skip” O’Connor, Jr. serves as counsel to the firm and is a member of our Business Section. His primary area of practice is commercial real estate.
Skip possesses decades of experience as both a real estate lawyer and a real estate developer. He was a founding partner of the Steeg & O’Connor firm, and subsequently practiced with his son Henry at O’Connor & O’Connor. Skip developed three Marriott properties in Metairie, Louisiana. From 1995 to 2001 he developed several Marriott properties in the CBD and Warehouse Districts in downtown New Orleans, doing his part to refurbish and bring value back to the formerly blighted areas. In 2007 he developed a Springhill Suites by Marriott at Harrah’s Louisiana Downs in Bossier City, Louisiana. Skip has also developed two Marriott-flagged hotels in Covington, Louisiana.
Skip received his undergraduate B.B.A. degree from Tulane University in 1965. He received his L.L.B. degree in 1967 from Tulane Law School.
He serves on the Registry Committee for the Louisiana State Law Institute. As a member of the vestry of Trinity Church, New Orleans, he assists in administering the temporal affairs of the parish. Skip is also a board member of the New Orleans Bureau of Governmental Research. He is a member of the New Orleans, Louisiana State and American Bar Associations.
